350g/12oz self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
100g/3Żoz unsalted butter
50ml/2fl oz milk
100g/3Żoz cheddar, grated
salt and black pepper
Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
Place the flour, butter and baking powder into a food processor and blend together.
Continue blending and gradually add the milk and cheese. When the mixture just starts to come together then stop.
Remove the dough mixture and shape into a large flat round about 3cm/1in thick. Place onto a floured baking sheet
Slash a criss-cross over the centre of the dough and place into the oven to bake for 15 minutes, until risen, golden and cooked through.
Yummy with a lovely hot vegetable soup!!
