I have been told that a vegetarian/vegan diet is very very good for helping you to lose weight and keep it off but - I must be doing something wrong. I have a real problem with keeping my weight down. I am vegetarian and I do eat cheese and I know that is high in fat, but that is obvious any suggestions? |

I have a simular problem - I find that I don't want to be eating salads and boring foods all the time. I would like a variety but not all vegetarian and vegan food is low in fat. |

absolutely, animal fat is the big issue - remove that from the diet and weight tumbles off.
some are scared of coconut fats, but these are actually GOOD fats that the body can use. |

I found that when I cut out dairy and wheat, the weight fell off me and I really did feel very well. I ate nuts, pulses, fruit, veg. I also drank plenty of water Sadly, I do not have the will power to stay on the diet but hope one day I will be able to get back to it as it really was cool! |

I personally don't believe that a vegetarian diet automatically means you are thin - there are so many bad things you can eat that don't include meat and they can make you put on weight. If you eat sensibly and exercise then you should maintain a balance and once you are at your optimum weight then maintaining it should not be a problem. |

Although of course if you cut out animal fat you will be a lot healthier it doesn't mean you will lose weight because just like any diet it can depend on other things like the size of your portions. And chips, crisps and salted peanuts are vegan and not healthy in large amounts. |
