60g/2oz brown sugar
6 tbsp honey
2 apple, cored and cut into thin wedges
4 egg whites, whisked until peaked
220g/8oz caster sugar
Preheat oven to 250C/500F/Gas 9. Place the brown sugar, butter and honey in a preheated saucepan and heat until combined and melted.
Add the apples and heat through.
In a bowl, gently fold the sugar into the egg whites.
Remove the caramel apples from the heat and pour them into a casserole dish and spoon the meringue mixture on top of the apples.
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 5 - 7 minutes.
Remove the meringue from the oven when the top of the meringue has browned
